# Buying Formed Latex Sheet

> **Safety.** Natural-rubber protein and accelerator chemistry can matter for skin contact. Literacy, not a wear certificate. See [Allergy and Skin Contact](/literature-reviews/allergy-and-skin-contact).

## Executive summary

This pathway starts with commercial sheet already formed. Cut, glue, finish. ISO 3302-1 is a dimensional-tolerance framework for calendered rubber sheet, not a mill SOP.[^1] Manufacturer category pages describe calendered NR sheeting as industrial or catalog goods.[^2][^3]

Use with [Calendered latex sheet](/literature-reviews/sheet-calendered-sheet). Seams: [Sheet adhesives and seam integrity](/literature-reviews/sheet-adhesives-and-seam-integrity).

## What you are buying

Commercial latex sheet is sold with thickness menus, finish options, and cure-state options.[^2][^3] Fashion suppliers usually mean calendered roll goods.

Shop culture is typically solvent rubber cement as a contact bond. That is a pathway label, not a handbook procedure.

Color, stretch, and shine do not change the feedstock class.

---

## How thickness is specified

Catalogs quote millimetres. ISO 3302-1 includes calendered rubber sheet in its dimensional-tolerance scope. It is a tolerance class for solid rubber, not coated fabric, and not a garment construction chapter.[^1]

Vendor tables that interpret ST classes for thin sheet are guidance, not the standard text. One published reading: 0–1 mm ST1 ±0.15 mm.[^4]

WCRP-class category pages: calendered NR from about 300 µm; smooth or cloth finish; cure-state options.[^2] Elastomade-class retail menus: about 0.25–1.05 mm; polishable upper / roughened underside.[^3] Categorize. Do not treat a catalog chart as an audited fashion mill process.

---

## After you have the sheet

Once film exists, heat, light, ozone, oils, and metals age it. See [Sheet aging, storage, and care](/literature-reviews/sheet-aging-storage-and-care).

ASTM D412 and ASTM D624 are tensile and tear *method classes* for vulcanized rubber.[^5][^6] They are not a garment QC card.

Protein versus accelerator versus irritant classes remain literacy. See [Allergy and Skin Contact](/literature-reviews/allergy-and-skin-contact).

## When this pathway fits

Need a usable film now. Accept catalog thickness and finish. Repeatability is the mill’s sheet.

Forming from liquid is a different primer: [Forming film from liquid latex](/literature-reviews/liquid-film-pathway).

## Endnotes

[^1]: ISO 3302-1:2014 — rubber dimensional tolerances, including calendered-sheet scope. Tolerance framework, not a fashion mill SOP or garment construction chapter.
[^2]: WCRP natural rubber sheeting — manufacturer category page: calendered NR (thickness menus, finish, cure-state options) as industrial/catalog goods.
[^3]: Elastomade latex sheeting chart — retail garment-sheet menu (thickness; polishable upper / roughened underside). Categorize, do not endorse.
[^4]: EMI Seals ISO 3302-1-aligned tolerance tables — vendor interpretation of ST classes for thin sheet (example: 0–1 mm ST1). Not the standard text.
[^5]: ASTM D412 — tensile method class for rubber. Shared once a vulcanized film exists.
[^6]: ASTM D624 — tear method class for rubber.
